Grammie, being the person that she is, didn't really have much to do with Maitai the last couple of days. She missed her, but I think she didn't wanted to remember Maitai in her last days.

While Grammie didn't make a bid deal of it, I know it has been hard on her. She misses Maitai a lot. On the other hand, she thinks it is nice to be able to read the paper without worrying about Maitai having a seziure.

3 other cats are trying to take Maitai's place. They are all viing for Grammie's attentions.

I am doing ok...every now and then I think I see her then I do a double take and laugh at myself. I miss her -- alot actually. But, she was 21.5 years old.

Everytime Morgan sees a cat that is remotely siamese in looks, he says "There is Maitai!"

A couple of days after Maitai died, Morgan came in and looked at Grammie's lap and asked where Maitai was. Grammie just said "She's gone." Morgan replied that Maitai was sleeping up in the sky.

Um. I still haven't figured out where or how he came up with that.

She and Maitai were kind of cut from the same cloth, and it's always hard to lose a companion, especially one who has been around for so long. You've lost almost all of your cats who loudly demand dinner now...

I wonder if Robert's mom (or someone else) tried to explain things to Morgan?

That thought has occured to me. I can't think why else a 2+ year old would talk about sleeping in the sky as a reference to death.
